| Seafood & Marine Education
Poor seafood quality costs the seafood industry in Washington State over $4 million annually.
Improper seafood handling and storage by fishermen, processors, retailers, and consumers causes loss of quality, reduced economic value, wastage, reduced sales, and potential safety problems.
Through Extension programs, consumers and volunteers may receive training, technical assistance and information regarding seafood quality control, safety, handling, and utilization techniques.
Marine education programs for youth include workshops and classroom sessions on marine life of the Washington coast.
If you would like more information regarding these educational opportunities, contact Steve Harbell or call the WSU Extension office at 360-482-2934.
