Alternative Crop Production

Alternative crops provide an opportunity for growers to increase their economic return per acre while cranberry prices are low. Ornamental and food crops suitable for cranberry production acreage could help to diversify production and marketing operations, thus helping growers meet the financial challenges of the changing cranberry market.

Extension faculty are developing and presenting programs to cranberry producers on alternative crops that could be grown to compliment cranberry production, and are conducting research on crops that look the most promising for these uses.

If you would like information on alternative crops, email Don Tapio or contact him by phone at 360-482-2934.
